Just got the call from the RCMP that I have been officially accepted to Depot in Regina. The official day that I have to report isn't known yet but it will be in October which would mean that I could be in the red serge come March.

Glasier Road has been offically closed so I can neither come nor go. They are shutting off power shortly for an indefinite amount of time so... whenever I get power back I will let you know.

Edit - apparently the power was shut-off up to my neighbours house. So I have power. Huzzah!

So for those keeping track I have made it through another hurdle for the RCMP by being officially informed that I passed my polygraph. This means that all I have left is my physical and security check. So if fast tracked that means I could conceivably be in Regina by the start of February.

Also in good news I had a package waiting for me when I got home. It had some awesome Serenity t-shirts in it. AWESOME! I suspect they came from longpig and so I thank her profusely!

Hong Kong

I got back from Hong Kong a few days ago and let me tell you it was pretty damn cool. My only disappointment was that no gunfights broke out while I was there...I suspect that the various Jet Li and John Woo movies that I have seen lied to me..

Here are some photos that I took while I was there.

I was also smart enough to time my lunar calendar properly and was there for The Hungry Ghost Festival. It's a kind of a Chinese Buddhist Halloween with strong links to Confucianism. People burn paper effigies of things that the dead will need. I took some pictures, but because it was at night with fire they didn't turn out that good. I figure this cements my religious geek status because I timed my vacation to coincede with a religious festival.

Right now I'm just killing time until I go to Seoul and catch my plane for Hong Kong. I found out that my hotel is in the red-light district of Hong Kong. That should be entertaining.

Also it seems that for my entire time there they are expecting thunder storms which is not cool, not cool at all. Short of a typhoon though I will see stuff other than my hotel room damnit!

It's official. I'm going to visit Hong Kong for four days before I go back to Canada. I don't know what I will do there exactly yet but I am really looking forward to visiting someplace that I have always wanted to go!

I got back yesterday from my first kids' camp of the summer. It was pretty exhausting because I am with the kids pretty much 24 hours a day for 5 days.

Next week I have another camp to do in my own county. This camp is already proving to be a headache because I had to design the textbook that the kids will be using. This design was dumped on my lap about 2 weeks ago but I got it finished. Now my supervisor is bitching about stuff and I just want to tell him to fuck off because his concerns are all stuff that we could have dealt with if he would have given me a decent amount of time to work on it...

So after this camp I have two weeks off and then I go back to Canada. I plan on spending a little over a week with the Big Show and Jay and then I will go visit my parents for about a week.

After that I will go to Saskatoon and try living with Joanie and see how that works out. Hopefully, we can get some issues resolved and sort of get back on track as it were...

Undead monkey!

I watched "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" tonight (for the record movies open on Thursday here in Korea). I rather enjoyed it quite a bit. It is a bit slower than the first one but I figure that is because they are trying to stretch the story over two movies. Also the movie had a lot of hanging plot points at the end to make me want to see the third one as soon as possible - which unfortunately won't be for about a year. Also it had one really big surprise at the end of the movie that will definitely make the next one entertaining.

Also to give away a small spoiler: I was very happy that the undead monkey was back in this one. You really can't go wrong with a monkey, especially an undead one.

Some painful dreams

A re-occuring theme in my dreams lately has involved me waking up in physical pain.

A couple of days ago I had a dream where I was in some sort of cave system with some people and we were being stalked by some C.H.U.D-like creatures (actually they were from the movie The Descent). I was grabbed by one and found in the dream that I was unable to yell for help so I headbutted the thing. In the waking world I wound up slamming my forehead into the side of my nightstand. A hit hard enough to shift my stand across the floor and knock over the lamp. Needless to say I woke up in pain.

Last night, I fell out of bed. Apparently this happened when I tried to kick something in the crotch. It seems that I was close to the edge of the bed and swinging my leg sent me to the floor. I hit my head against my nightstand in the process.

If this continues I expect to either be dead through dream induced misadventure or to wake up with my apartment barricaded against a zombie threat.

I am in a bad mood. A very bad mood. An ATM here ate money I was depositing in to it, a lot of money, as in 800k won - about $850 Canadian. The bank is closed because of the weekend and the problem with the machine was being displayed in Korean. When I went to the bank's English website there was a phone number to call but no other contact info. When I called the phone number I was told that the number was no longer in service. The best I can hope for is to get to leave the camp I have to work at early on Monday so I can go to the bank - hopefully with my co-teacher - and explain to them what the hell happened and hopefully get my money deposited.
